Tourmaline

Tourmaline is sometimes referred to as the newer or alternate October birthstone to the opal.  As one of the most colorful gems on Earth, tourmalines come in many colors: blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red, yellow, black, brown and even colorless!  In fact, at one time in history, pink and red tourmalines were mistaken to be rubies.  Tourmalines are associated with bringing the wearer creativity, discovery, enlightenment in spiritual affairs and protection against all evils.
