Amazonite - Semi Precious
Amazonite is a variety of potassium feldspar known for its distinctive green to blue-green color. The color is believed to be caused by trace amounts of lead within its crystal structure. The name "amazonite" is derived from the Amazon River in South America, although high-quality deposits are not currently found in that region. Major sources of amazonite today include Russia, the United States, Brazil, and India. Amazonite is typically translucent to opaque and exhibits a vitreous luster. Upon closer inspection, it may display white or lighter-colored streaks. With a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, amazonite is relatively soft and should be handled with care. In terms of metaphysical properties, amazonite is believed to have a soothing energy, reducing stress and promoting courage in self-expression.
