October Birthstone Jewelry - Opal

The opal is the birthstone for the month of October.  It is said that the wearer of the opal will receive beauty and happiness from it.  As such opals were quite popular among royal families, often seen in the necklaces and head wear of the royalty of Europe.  Opals were said to be the favorite gemstone of England’s Queen Victoria due to its mesmerizing colors.  More commonly found as the color white, opals within the white there are rainbow-like iridescence which changes the colors that appear in the stone depending on which angle the stone is viewed at reminiscent to a crystal ball.
